IOM’s role and responsibility in protection – Phase I

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has a key role in ensuring respect for, and the protection of, the rights of all beneficiaries, including a rights-based approach to migration. It possesses a wealth of practical experiences and policy documents that demonstrate its critical value and pivotal position as a protection actor.

In further defining its role and responsibility when it comes to protection, IOM has decided to invest efforts in institutionalising a policy to ensure a coherent and consistent approach to protection and the rights-based approach in all its work. The organization has asked for advice and a detailed plan based on interviews with key IOM staff members and some external protection specialists.

IOM has contracted a HERE member of staff to carry out this assignment.
